I make mead and beer. I'd post pictures but it would just out me as a hillbilly since I'm not exactly picky as to what type of containers I use for fermentation/bottling.

Do you use purpose-made yeast? I've tried a few things over the years, but I've always just used Fleischmans (sp?) fast-acting. Once, I tried to do a secondary ferment of a mead in Grolsch bottles, by dropping a little table sugar in. When I went to open the first bottle, the lid keeper removed itself from the bottle and bounced off the ceiling... it was followed by a jet of bubbly mead, which tasted pretty good, but the batch was not salvageable because of the high pressure. My father-in-law and I tied mason's line to the other keepers and fired them off in the back yard. Good times.

I like using WhiteLabs yeast, if you want a high yield mead the white wine/mead yeast is awesome. Seriously awesome. I've been using it for some beers now because of the yield and mild taste. I suggest washing your yeast, an $8 bottle will last you 5 batches or so that way.

And yea, without an airlock the mead will bottle ferment, giving you sparkling mead, which is still great.

I collect books. I have over a thousand.

I would have had many more, but my grandparents' great library was mostly auctioned away.

    "Addiction"--addressed.

    "Wish"--covered.

    "Thinking"--not mentioned.

Allow me a moment to contain my surprise.

I also have a lot of books, but the hobby is reading, not book collecting. I don't go after firsts or anything like that. I've written a few pieces for Fine Books & Collections, and I wouldn't say I'm worthy of being called a book collecting hobbyist given some of the folks I've interviewed/collections I've examined.
