In goju we did footwork drills for quite a while, after a while threw in some kicks and did some shadow boxing.
Worked on Saifa did it about 8 times.
Finished off with some basic blocks and punches because I pulled a hamstring throwing an inside leg kick while I was shadow boxing.

In ju jitsu we went through a few basic things. Sucked a little my leg hurt every now and then.
Worked on basic triangle choke and collar choke along with a belly down armbar and defences for can openers.

I tried a karate class. It was krotty with tippy tappy sparring. I was bored and annoyed as I expected kyokushin karate. Then during "sparring" I was pitted against a guy who had done tkd in the past. His kicks were hard, uncontrolled and poorly distanced. Then, out of the blue one of his kicks did land quite forcefully on my nose; blood everywhere didnt think it was broken but doctor at first aid thought it was.

Glad I was wearing my gumshield otherwise I would have lost some teeth too. The asshole.

I spent most of this week getting back up to speed after being sick for the previous week and a half, so there was no clinching on account of not wanting to be rude and coughing my lungs up all over my teammates. Pads this week were mostly spent working on technical tweaks. I usually manage to make some progress with that when I'm not 100 percent, mostly just because it takes more energy to do it wrong than it does to do it right.

Thursday, on the other hand, I was feeling a bit better. So I sparred 6 4-minute rounds intending for them to be a little on the lighter, more technical side. Which lasted for about one round before it turned into a shootout. I'm fine with it though, it was my first day sparring in about two weeks or so, and I was feeling antsy to throw down.

Did the usual friday 50 min randori (half ground half standing) and while the other guys were doing some Q and A I went aside with one of the dan grades and worked the nage no kata that I need for my ikkyu test at the end of the summer.

I am actually not hating the kata work as much as I thought I would, some of it is frustrating, especially the tsurikomi goshi and sasae tsurikomi ashi but all in all its just another challenge to over come.

It was tai-otoshi, hiza-guruma and o-sotogari day at our dojo today.

Also a bit of ukemi-waza here and there, for some reason.

Missed class this morning due to newly discovered intolerance to lactose and subsequent stomach bloat.

Training kung fu motivates me; missing kung fu motivates me more. So I spent the afternoon jogging, doing pushups, body squats, and lifting weights. Swung the kettle bell a bit.

Went searching online for a video on "tiger pushups" AKA "judo pushups" AKA "divebomb pushups" that I sometimes do, and found this:

This is how I turned a painful morning into a great training day.
