Yes but by your own admission mostly on opponents that are mostly complaint to begin with.

One of the biggest issues (from what I have read) is getting that initial hold/grip on a resisting opponent.

So yes Aikido works some of the time in this particular circumstance its hardly a ringing endorsement for a "street fight" or "self defense" scenario.

Thank you, you do the same. I am excited to start training in BJJ this year. I had to stop all my training due to finances, and I put on some weight I'm cutting right now. We finally have a BJJ school here not far from my house. I think it's about $180 a month, for five nights a week gi and no gi. The instructor is Fabio Prado, so it should be quality instruction.

Yes and no. Every technique has it's time and place. I once broke up a fight in a chow hall between a Crip and a 415. The crip had the 415 backed to the wall and was throwing punches, of course the other guy was throwing back. I was able to walk up behind, and grab his left elbow at the crease from behind, and slide my hand down into sankyo, which if you look at the koga videos that were posted on this thread, is the last one. He tried to turn and swing at me, but I whipped him around and laid him face down over a table, and told the other guy to get down. By the time staff responded to the alarm, I already had the crip cuffed, and was making sure the other guy stayed down while pointing my O/C at him.

Now if someone was squared up at me trying to fight me, well that's a fight. I'm not looking to perform some pretty aikido technique. I'll hit'em with whatever is around.

Keep going, train BJJ , it's worth it, and by all means cut the weight and you'll do just fine. Let me know how you're doing from time to time. Cheers.

    Not tone--tones.

I prefer them to semitones most of the times, depending on the chord.

    Says the guy hairsplitting.

Kind of proves the point doesn't it?
How often in a self defense situation do you even get the luxury of starting squared up?

HAH! What the hell do you know? Have you ever forced a woman to eat a deer penis? I thought not. Joe Rogan says it's kung fu, so it's kung fu.
