Rigid strapping tape and the removal thereof...
Okay the answer to this may be as simple as 'stop being a wuss'
But sayyy there was a nice science-y way to remove
elastoplast tape without having to shave the area etc.
I had this (not so) bright idea of spraying it with a citrus based solvent.
Sure the tape lifted right off...and left behind the glue...
What area are you taping and for what purpose?
When I used to fight stuff standing we would for instance tape toes and finger joints. You take the length of one consecutive roll plus a bit and glue it to the glue. now you have two outsides. you apply the stuff and then start doing your thing, now the outside, without the glue is in contact with your skin... It does not work for all types of taping yourself (depends on the joint you are trying to stabilize).
What helps in other cases is a warm shower/bath (to soak the tape) and a bit of glycerin detergent/soap and rub away :D
Cheers. It's pretty trivial stuff but thought someone might have something real simple and, over years of sport, that could come in handy. In this instance, strapping knee ligaments, aid stability in light of previous injuries.
I have no background in anything health related - so I would like to hear from others on this - but I have never seen people tape their knees....
I have seen them roll bandages for stability and I have seen all type of knee braces but using tape on your knee sounds pretty strange to me.

As I said, I have not medical background and I only have seen people do this with bandages (the elastic ones) and braces but never with tape.
Getting that adhesive off will pretty much require a solvent, none of which are really great stuff for putting on your skin.
I'd try nail polish remover myself. (Get the scented stuff!)
As far as taping knees etc, and not having the tape stick directly to the skin,
i've used a thin wrapping of this:
underneath the stiffer tape, with good results.
The texture is kind of like that craft "crepe paper", but it sticks to itself and can be pulled off and reapplied.
Just make sure you get a thin, wide roll for knees as it comes in a bunch of different thicknesses and sizes. You don't want too much bulk under the stiff tape.
