I was going to cite the Antarctic TKD blackbelt, and the Spazercise class he called a dojo. He would have performed exactly the same in that scenario.

The karateka did seem to handle the big guy a little better the second time, when he didn't have a CMA instructor unexpectedly chain-punching at his karate filled head with every ounce of his considerable being.
Karate man's body language doesn't look like he's getting ready to fight.
