HE MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE HAD SEVERAL SEX SLAVES

In 2010, a 23-year-old former model who was hired as Steven's "executive assistant" claims that, when she showed up to work for her first day, she learned that "Mr. Seagal had been keeping two young female Russian 'attendants' on staff who were available for his sexual needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." He was sued for sexual harassment, illegal trafficking of females for sex, failure to prevent sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination and false representation about employment. The matter was "resolved privately" by Steven's lawyer, and the case dismissed.
Holy **** thanks for the laugh, bro.

I see what you did there.

He was already a student of aikido (Shodan if my memory is correct) when he travelled to Japan. He met and married the daughter of an Aikido Dojo owner and, again if my memory is correct, was rapidly promoted to middle senior yudansha (reasons unknown to me)

In fairness, in his younger (leaner) days he had some ability (for a larping magic_pants wearer) his aikido was very dynamic and he seemed to cross train and study his aikido with people from other systems, Karate being an obvious one.

He's just guilty of believing his own hype and trying to carve an income stream in life. The latter being quite understandable, despite the god awful films and TV series he's made.

Apart from being the biggest douche to women (and of course his stunt partners).

You know he was the fight choreographer in the Film "The Challenge" right back as far as 1982, six years before his own acting debut.

Sounds about right to me. I just agree with the speculation that marrying the daughter of the dojo owner influenced his rapid promotion, even though there isn't a clear or definite relationship. Just seems reasonable to me.

If a movie has Toshiro Mifune in it, then yes.

Yes and yes. Its in my collection.

There's a cracking tantodori shomenuchi shihonage where Scott Glenn disarms one of the Japanese guards within a building and stabs him with his own knife.

Fight scenes accredited to "Steve Seagal"

The sword-play is pretty damn authentic with some Tenshin-shoden Katori Shinto Ryu.

Pretty cool film in most respects

    Just as an aside.

The film The Challenge was one of those films which, at the time, inspired me to take up martial arts - all be it back then only briefly before joining the forces however, given the interest it piqued in me, especially the sword, is the reason why I eventually came back to much more regular training and took up Muso Shinden Ryu Iai

Just to make sure that I get that, Steven Seagal made you pick up Aikido (I'm assuming that Muso Shinden Rya Iai is aikido)?

I started Aikido for different reasons not because of that douche.

I started Iaido directly because of my interests in Japanese swordsmanship

Well you started it because you watched a movie and liked the fights, which he happened to choreograph....

So he made you pick up Aikido.
