    Star Blazers - Yamato 2199

Is Back and frankly better than ever.

Not that I follow anime but the are redoing my favorite cartoon from childhood and doing a great job of it.

Oh hey awesome, I'd heard they were making one but I didn't know it was out.

I take it you've seen the live action film from a few years ago?

Yes it was fun but the Yamato story line is too complex to be contained in 1 movie.

It they ever do it live action again it should be a TV series.

And frankly once you watch these episodes you realize that story wise they do everything they need to do in the cartoon and do it really well.

Battleship Yamato episodes started showing in Dallas in '79 or '80. It and Gatchaman, or G-Force as I knew it, were the first animated cartoons that I thought about more than 5 minutes after they were over.

Here is a clip from the new version of Battleship Yamato,

There is a new live action Gatchaman project as well. Here's a teaser for it,

The great thing about early anime was that it wasn't about selling toys first
