    My class use nylon sticks my instructor had made, they are Perfect they never break, They have a little bit more weight but apart from that no real reverberation, Have used them for 10 years now. Just dont use them against anyone that has rattan lol it destroys there sticks lol

    After 26 years in the SCA, you see just about every kind of rattan break. Yes, most of the time the rattan just turns into a whisk broom or splits along the grain (underneath the strapping tape and duct tape, of course), and sometimes it breaks right over the basket hilt (especially if someone has shaved it down to fit into an unusually small hole in a basket hilt), but every once in a while you see a spectacular break right across the grain, usually when someone is trying to get someone else to stop calling blows "light."

    Broken alot of sticks, never clean. Usually a fiborous (is that a word?) mess.
