Iscape, would you be willing to describe the pressure-testing you're talking about? I'm curious about the particulars, and am pretty sure most of the other posters in this thread aren't going to give your efforts much credit until they know what those efforts consisted of. . .

My pressure testing or my instructors? Mine is not that serious in any way, bit of live blade work and some full contact h2h stuff. We decided to back that off a bit when my mate disarmed me and then threw me, but the knife somehow managed to bounce funny off the floor and go about 6 foot left and I ended up landing on it.. parp. Luckily landed on the flat of the blade tho.

If you were using live blades, and no one severed an artery, you weren't pressure testing.

Funnily enough, live blades aren't often used in pressure testing.

    Both, if possible.

. . . Your partner threw you six feet?

You would have to ask him about that... But if he missed training with his master and did not send apologies, he expected to get nabbed.

Edit - that sounded a bit mysterious BS - I think his training can be summed up under the heading - General Shenanigans.
Saying that tho, his mate is quite a high level Buj instructor and well worth a visit if you are ever down this way...

So, you know that your instructor pressure tested their training, but you don't know how or to what extent?

(. . . And why would I want to train with/pretend to be ninjas, when I could go sailing with cute sailor-girls and pretend to be pirates?)

Why is it people outside of these disciplines can't compete at all with someone of the same build and fitness level and age at all?

Please let me direct you to the early UFC's. (Also, there's little/no money in boring fights.)
