Thanks for the input everyone. I figured this topic may arouse some tension but let's keep the flame wars to a minimum!

I am enjoying reading what everyone has to say. I am interested in learning more about bjj, judo, and muay Thai. Can anyone reccommend which one would be better to start with? Can anyone reccommend a good combo (i.e. bjj and judo vs bjj and mt vs judo and mt). I would like to learn two of them if I find it possible to do in my area. My main concern is what someone above mentioned: if I ever found myself in an altercation and I was really good at bjj, would that help me much if I could never get them to the ground? That is why I want to learn two, but who knows maybe I am being naive in my thinking.

By the way we can scratch out that belt criteria. Thanks to those who opened my eyes about ranks!

I landed a job with the Big 4 in Tyson's Corner. I haven't pinpointed exactly where imam going to live but I was leaning toward northern VA. Probably the Arlington area.

I agree i would prefer to learn grappling first, if your standing up in a fight you can always run if the odds don't seem to be in your favor. but if you are brought to the ground by a ground guy i guarentee you will look like a fish out of water handing him a lottery of arm bars.

This thread is a typical circle jerk cluster ****.

Everyone gets a charge out of giving advice so here's mine. Find a friendly group that doesn't hurt noobs.

First question should have been have you read the stickies in Noobieville? Or just told use search function.

All I said was there are far better things than Judo. Vey hard to throw anybody without that Gi. And it will be extremely hard to throw somebody who is kicking you in the groin or elbowing you in the throat .

I guess the whole room gangs up on me, since they love Judo so much.

I am sure Alex is one tough MF. That is why I also carry a small gun just in case lol. One in the heart or head and you are done. This is America.
