    Need advice on stacking

I had a scary moment tonight during rolling and I'm hoping some of the more experienced bjj guys can help me out. Here is what happened.

During rolling I got caught into an armbar attempt. I rolled into the guy and was able to get to my knees and started to stand up. As I was standing up I tried to step to the side to turn him and get a knee right there near the ribs to pull my arm out and transition into a knee on belly. Well, I didn't step far enough out and instead of turning him he went ass over head. I heard stop because I wasn't looking at his head but my arm and he went over the top of his head instead of his shoulder. Truth be told, it scared the **** out of me and everyone because I thought I cranked his neck in not a nice way. I fucked up but not really sure how and I don't want to hurt the guys I roll with especially another new guy like me.

So my question, what can I do better to protect someone while I am stacking? When I get stacked I try to shoulder walk and if I start to get carried over I just go with it and I was expecting the same. Before we started he asked to go about 80% because of an injury to his toes but then he went full speed so I just tried to keep him guard and sweep him into guard because of his toes.

If this is in the wrong section I apologize in advance to JNP.

That did, and thank you very much. I'll start working on it how you showed tonight. I owe you a six pack of whatever you like.
