It was awesome. Period. End of story.

sacrifice techniques have always been my favorite to execute because the element of suprise is greatest (unless they know you and expect it). Especially in Judo.

    Kyokushin KO Goes Viral

Here's a video from Russia that's making the rounds :
    http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mma...8656--mma.html

For the record, I've always had a great deal of respect for Kyokushin. The sparring is great. Very intense and slightly similar in nature to the bare-knuckle short fist sparring we engage in at CAACMA, minus the full-force head kicks lol.
With the body conditioning that is surely involved and emphasis on short-range power-shots I cannot help but respect this art. Too bad most of the karate schools I've visited over the years were mcdojos and teaching crap instead of training guys for this type of competition.
I remember watching some old-school Kyokushin fights on Wide World Of Sports when I was only 8 or 9 years old.
Anyone remember Wide World Of Sports ? What a great opening theme...

This is a a technique born out of competition, its meant to be used for a quick K.O and on a soft surface. Why people would see this and think that its meant for self defense is beyond me.

You must have a crush on Permalost, don't you? Go do some pushups or something

I was amazed by the number of people who cried "fake" on this video when it was posted on YouTube without context.
You commit everything to that kick, and if it doesn't land right, you're down on the mat, though a lot of tournaments don't count that against you these days. If it hits, though, it's pretty solid for getting a KO.
I don't even attempt it, heh!
