Jujitsu film footage from 1912
Very neat historical curiosity; this is some of the earliest film footage of jujitsu, probably shot in Paris in the year 1912. Features a formal technique demo by Takisaburo Tobari and Taro Miyake, followed by a spectacular self defense stunt fight.

Cool. I enjoy historical martial arts nuggets such as this.
I really want an old school style Gi.
I was rather pleased that they did some leg locks.
Reaffirmed my commitment to getting a bowler hat.
Once you go bowler, you never go back.

That put a smile on my Face. :-) Delightful and many recognisable techniques.
The Bowler etc, well Britain and Japan had a Treaty agreed in the late 19th C.
Thanks for the post!
Extremely cool stuff - renewed my interests in bartitsu (always been curious about it) and/or BJJ.
And the bowler - gotta get my wife to buy in on that one. Hmm.
