Sounds like you are having fun, and since you already have the competition thing down, fun is important. I never learned to fully appreciate the weaponry aspect of CMA. I had to learn a couple (intermediate level at best) in order to advance, but was really only into it for the sparring.
Although it isn't technically 'too late' for me to pick up swordsmanship, I don't have the flexibility and coordination to be worth a **** at it. Except for the cold weather that Michigan is, I am envious. Have fun, do pushups and learn kung fu.

Style: Wu Hao Taiji, San Shou--
Fencing is awesome, wearing heavy armor and beating the **** out of each other with rattan sword simulators is awesome, and most kung fu weapons are pretty damn cool. You won't hear any complaints from me.
It helps that I've experienced a similar fall from grace from moving to Tulsa, going from Enshin and Judo to waving my hands slowly in the air. -
