United States and Iran Come Together in Support of Olympic Wrestling

If there's one thing the citizens nearly any country can agree on, it's that the IOC's decision to remove Wrestling from the Olympics, was a poor one. Athletes from the United States and Iran are standing together, literally, to protest the decision.
At the start of the Wrestling World Cup, hosted in Tehran from February 21-22, American and Iranian athletes held hands and smiled to the crowd while standing behind a long banned that read: “Olympics without wrestling! never never” in both English and Farsi. “We need the backing of Iran and Russia… to preserve wrestling, and this goes beyond politics… Iran is one of the powers in wrestling and can defend the game’s credibility,” said Rich Bender, executive director of USA Wrestling, according to the ISNA state news agency.
While it remains to be seen how the US and the Islamic "Republic" of Iran -- and its desire to obtain nuclear weaponry -- will work out their greater differences, it's good to know that the concept of "bullshit" is the same in any language.

It still feels like I'm living in some bizzaro universe all of a sudden that the IOC is doing this. Wrestling is one of the sports that goes all the way back to the original Olympics in ancient Greece. It makes no sense to remove a purely objective athletic competition from the Olympics when there are so many events that focus more on artistic presentation and other subjective aspects. This runs totally counter to the spirit of the games.
