    Martial-Arts style Street Belts

    http://www.kataaro.com/Products/Rank...t__SB4921.aspx

So this company, kataaro has started selling normal, everyday wear belts stylized like traditional martial arts belts. I've seen their embroidered black belts on their facebook page before and while they are awesome, they definitely have a "mcdojo" sort of feel to the super-stylized, crazy colored, crazy fonts black belts:

And others on their website. Kinda out there, but sweet at the same time.
So what are your thoughts on the street belts? Absolutely ridiculous, awesome, or somewhere in the middle? Or none of those?
What are your thoughts on the 'traditional', embroidered black belts?

They've been around for years in some way, shape or form. If I had a black belt, I'd rock one because **** you I'm a black belt. But I'm not. And thus it would be douchey.

I'm not a black belt either, but a plain black one of these with no misleading symbolism would go well with my trenchcoat. However, I agree it would be kinda douchy. But hey, I got my spot reserved in hell anyways.....I dunno though. Blue wouldn't look so bad with my trenchcoat either.....and I am a blue belt in my style. I guess I should just flip a coin?

In my experience, most Traditional Martial Arts with belts frown on the display of rank outside the dojo.

Is there a particular reason you posted this in the KMA forum?

Yes, they just run around with linkedin, facebook, instagram and online resumes trumpteting their rank.

If you want one to go with your trenchcoat, just get one, Columbo.

That's actually pretty convenient if you wanted to be a vigilante. You could wear a Harold Howard-style guinea tee, tuck it into your Chuck Norris Action Jeans, and then put on the belt. Fitting, mobile, and street lethal.

Personally I would rock the Chuck Norris action jeans with one of those 1982 ninja star belt buckle belts. I mean, you know, we're I a true karate vigilante. And the porn stash. Gotta have the porn stash.
