I've seen a few threads here in the past asking questions about marksmanship training so I thought some of you might find this useful.



Note, the rifle used in the video is the Army's M14 EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle).

The Designated Marksman program is something relatively new for the US and is different from the Scout/Sniper program. AFAIK, the Marines developed their DM program in the early '90s (about the same time that the USMC developed the DMR M14) and the Army started theirs shortly after SHTF on Afghanistan. Because the Army puts a lot less emphasis on marksmanship training, a much bigger part of the Army's program has had to focus on developing those skills.
