This promo. blurb has appeared on the BBC4 page:
An advertisement for the documentary may appear online tomorrow.Timeshift, the black belt of the archive world, takes a look at the rise of martial arts in Britain. From the early days of bartitsu, through judo and karate to kung fu, Britain has had a long and illustrious involvement with the martial arts. Gold medals have been won, Sherlock Holmes's life has been saved and aftershave has been worn - all thanks to the martial arts.Check out the Bullshido.net Western Martial Arts Forum for all things Western, martial and arty.

Note that, appropriately enough given that the documentary series is called "Timeshift", the broadcast time has shifted; it's now being advertised as starting at 10.00 pm rather than 9.00 pm.

The first clip from the upcoming martial arts history BBC documentary is now online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01580m1 . Viewers from within the UK should be able to watch it with no problems; outside the UK, you have to get a bit ingenious.
The clip runs for just under 4 minutes and focuses on the careers of Bartitsu Club instructors Yukio Tani and Sadakazu Uyenishi, with interview footage of historians Emelyne Godfrey and Tony Wolf interspersed with archival photographs and some"re-animated" film of Uyenishi in action.
As far as I know this clip has been edited together as an Internet promo., rather than representing a section of the documentary as it will go to air.Check out the Bullshido.net Western Martial Arts Forum for all things Western, martial and arty.
