New BBC documentary on history of martial arts in the UK

An hour-long documentary on the early history of Asian martial arts in the UK is scheduled to screen on BBC4 at 9.00 pm on Sunday, Feb. 24th.

The documentary includes a 12-minute section on Bartitsu and the jujitsu-trained Bodyguard unit of the British Suffragette movement (1898-1914) and (AFAIK) continues through to the Bruce Lee craze of the 1970s. An associated short film on Bartitsu Club
instructors and international jujitsu pioneers Yukio Tani and Sadakazu Uyenishi will be available online at some point over the next two weeks.

    More info via http://www.bartitsu.org/index.php/20...c-documentary/ .

Thanks for the heads up, sounds interesting.
Reckon the Suffrajitsugette section may start a new juijitsu craze, only this time the ladies will be going Brazillian..

FWIW I've been told that the short webfilm about Tani and Uyenishi should be viewable outside the UK.

Non-UK guys should be able to use Hola Unblocker or similar to watch iplayer.
