Style: Traditional Mix--
As others previously noted, my objection to this change is that it is getting away from the Olympic program. Okay, so the IOC does not want to stick with the traditional games. I get it. They want the more popular and money making stuff. Okay. Why not get off and do some sort of damn International games that are not Olympic games that are open to all nations and leave the original combat skill games as the Olympics? Just my two cents. With all of the Goodwill Games and other competitions, you would think the IOC would be better.

The Olympics stopped being about good amateur competition decades ago.
Today it's all about the money and how many gold metals a nation can win, and wrestling doesn't sell like gymnastics or swimming.
Gymnast and swimming gold gets you a run on the daily talk show circuit and onto Oprah's couch and a fat contract with General Mills and your picture on their cereal boxes.
Wrestling and judo gold get you...mentioned in an article or blog somewhere.
I agree Judo is probably next to be cut, because of where it was scheduled in the games lineup last year...first. They wanted judo out of the way for the drama later on. -

Next thing you know competitors clothes will look like nascars or MMA shorts. And is it just me or are they slowly obsorbing the Xgames into their line up?

The name!
The Olympic Games has the marketing perfect name, unfortunally the majority of the population doesn't give a rat's ass about Combat Sports.
The IOC isn't going to put the lesser watched sports in the "Olympic Games" and then try to boot a new event besides it with all the other sports.
See how many attention these games got compaired to the Olympic Games (on world level).
