Right on cue, conspiratards are asking how Dorner's ID card(s) could have "survived a fire that left his body charred". Duh. Lots of ways that might happen, unless every single molecule in the cabin was completely carbonated. Nevertheless, no doubt the "he's-still-out-there" crap will keep surfacing in the face of all evidence to the contrary.
In any case, Dorner clearly didn't expect to get out of this alive. He might have wanted to kill more cops before he "retired", but if his objective was to scare the **** out of many of them, he seems to have succeeded in that. Like rockets Hezbollah rains down on Israel: those launching them know they won't often hit anyone; their objective is to create an atmosphere of fear.
So, if what Dorner wanted to do was scare a lot of cops and go out with a bang, then--as much of a pissoff as it is to write this--he got what he wanted, died on his own terms, and is beyond anyone's justice and ridicule now.
What needs to happen next? Try to find measures that minimize any chances for recurrence of this whole thing. No doubt, those involved are on that as we speak.
Any way to eliminate completely any possibility that it might happen again? Last I checked, humans aren't machines and don't come with 100% guarantees. Nature of the beast. -

Not a damn thing. Bad **** happens. People can't accept that fact. People need to keep protecting themselves the best they can. Sometimes it won't be enough. Nobody died because of any failures that need to be fixed. We don't always need to kneejerk and dance like trained monkeys every time something bad happens.

On the contrary, one "necesary change" this episode HAS brough to light is the cavalier and reckless attitude many SOCAL police departments have towards public safety.
They are going to suffer more from lawsuits and a loss of good faith than anything Dorner could have realisticaly inflicted upon them himself.
IMHO, this is a case of two extreme wrongs making and even bigger, stupider wrong. -

Well their should be camera footage, so I would hope they have enough sense not to do that. But this is the same group that shot up a random truck without a warning, so yeah.

I know the answer, ban all guns especially assault rifles. Only let military, LEOS and security have them.
The hood mentality is crippling disease, that attacks your nervous system. It makes you nervous of the system. Gangsters and hood rats are especially susceptible to this growth stunting mentality. The hood is where I'm from, but it's not what I am. The hood is where I'm from, but it's not what I am. --Keith David--Ice Cube
