    Whatever gods you worship help you...

    ...pending paperwork being sent back and forth, i'm de facto a state level certified judo coach through USA Judo. There was a day long clinic at one of the Yamasaki academies. There was much discussion of how to coach safely and emergency medical and legal procedures. I feel much more confident about safety after doing this.

    I took notes on my laptop, but doing this on five hours sleep caused my mind to wander a bit and some of the notes to get disjointed. Some highlights:


    - chokes are now allowed at 13, armlocks at 15 (in cadet div), be sure to let all involved parties know (this will not be a

    problem for you as anyone you train will not be stupid about joint locks)

    -wash your fucking mats, you're liable if your athletes get MRSA, wear sandals off the mat, seriously the health department

    will crawl straight up your ass

    -why is it so cold in here?

    ....

    -[National Referee] is Canadian or from the northern states [due to his long Os]

    -hitting people with a shinnai is *not* part of the sport


    Gimme an instructor or 'certified coach' tag?
