Somethin' else it helped me with totally not MA related? Hackey-sack. The kicking is totally different, but having quick feet and all that has helped. And if the hack goes flying off, sometimes it's still in the perfect range where I can sorta shuffle in flamingo stance and save itl if I react fast enough.

Here is something that actually helped me.
I have pretty fast footwork (albeit not necessarily 'the best footwork'). I can cover distances quickly, effectively throw body shots, and decent head movement.
This is all from TMA. Those stupid horse stances and very low stance katas. Its made my legs massive and gave me a solid foundation. While I never actually use any of those stances, they come out on transistion phases; at the end of a straight left (I'm southpaw), in the middle of a pivot, etc.
I've never been tired from dipping low for head movement or throwing a punch to the body. Thanks to TMA.
Also, sorta related to TMA is that my first HKD school, where I got my first black belt, placed a lot of emhpasis on wushu esque acrobatics. Like cartwheels and flips and ****. Breakfalls were done at insanely high heights. you basically jumped as high as you can and fell into a breakfall, or did a roll from a running and jumping start. Jumping over 6 foot walls and ****.
Not only has it saved my ass af ew times from when I fell off of two-wheeled transportation, I think it built the foundation for my ability to get inside very quickly.

actually i tell you what i did get from fucking years of doing TMA- strong wrists. i have spindly girly wrists, but ive never injured them despite what a spazz i am. i attribute this to years and years and years of knuckle push ups.

Breakfalling, I'm pretty good at that.
But I'm not if sure that's a good thing because as soon as my Judo coaches discovered that I'm a good demonstration puppet I become everyones favourite thing to throw around.
"See guys, that's how you do O Uchi Gari, you have to be careful not to land on his balls like I just did"
Also my KIYAH is pretty strong if I must say so myself.
