    Aggressive Judo

During a judo lesson some days ago, the instructor for that class made an offhanded remark that "I don't know why, but it seems most of the guys in the dojo are counter fighters." which certainly seems in the spirit of Judo to this mediocre orange belt...

But, that did get me thinking: that being the case, it seems it would be fun to change up my style and try to work more aggressive and create opportunities and yadda yadda.

So, given my relative lack of information on the subject: can anyone recommend a few Judoka with a more aggressive style of play than is average? I figure I might be able to take some inspiration and study from them.

You don't get too much more aggressive than Dr. Ferguson

Huh, now that was an entertaining bit of footage up there. Never realized how awesome that take down could look, what with how terrible I am at it.

You'll probably stay terrible at it if you just do judo.

Well, the plan is to cross=train as much as I can once my transportation issue is dealt with. At least go to a nearby boxing gym.
Although the place I'm at has a few other things I'll likely look into more deeply.

My instructor said Daigo Sensei used to say "Good judo is attacking judo." Kashiwazaki and Koga come to mind as far as aggressive elite level judo players. You should check out their highlights

Work on your own game, be more agressive get in more qualified attacks. A qualified attack is one that makes uke off balanced or have to make a adjustment to avoid your throw.

Getting back to the main point I'm really reminded of this scene in fight quest

If your sensei is old school enough he might even be willing to yell and hit you with a shinai.

If you wanna be aggressive be aggressive. Just keep attacking, but accept that you're gonna go for a ride. I find the hardest part of being aggressive is just running out of gas.

The Russian style seems to be very aggressive.
