Not sure what the average gun owner will think of this. Personally being self aware of one's ammo state is bread an butter stuff however, to someone who isn't required or doesn't handle a weapon on a daily basis, this sort of gizmo might be a trick bit of kit to have.

I'm not sold on it myself - it's something else to break.

Looks like it could be a constant distraction too. Not a fan of anything that has you taking your eye off the target or disrupting sight alignment. It does win points for looking like a prop from Aliens though.

Sure.

Thing is when you understand the difference between admin and tactical reloads, you can perform both correctly but more importantly at the correct stage in weapon deployment, knowing the exact number of rounds in a magazine becomes far less important.

As I say, for me it wouldn't be a useful addition to my set up.

I've never struggled knowing how many rounds I have left, but I've never been in a real defensive shooting, either.

it's a cool idea, either way.

That's the thing, I was always taught to "count" the rounds (which is pretty much bullshit) because when SHTF no one is really counting. I never have !

The key comes in to play when someone isn't controlling their fire discipline based on the circumstances of the contact. I think I can count on one hand (over several deployments and countless live fire exercises) where I've ran a magazine dry before reloading - for me that's bad drills because you're running a weapon to a point of intentional failure - requiring you to reload at a point in time which might not the the most appropriate. (or safe)

It looks like it came about either because the designer is an FPS player or happened to see one of his/her kids playing either COD or Halo. I think it is interesting but falls into high-speed mall ninja accessories.

I wouldn't be interested but they'll probably sell a shitload of them. Joe Blow likes this kind of stuff. Like lasers on pocket pistols. Blows my mind.

I have an LLM (Lazer Light Module) which emits a lazer only seen through NVG. Pretty cool - problem is I couldn't manage to half-hinch a set of HMNVS to actually see the lazer at work LOL !

Oh yeah. I'm not necessarily opposed to lasers. I just think it's funny when people put them on a Ruger LCP or something else that's meant for up close and personal self defense.
