Full-automatic and semi-automtic firearms should be banned from public ownership. Also, the right to carry a firearm on one's person (either concealed or displayed, as in a holster) should be limited to law enforcement officials and, in some instances, security guards.

It would be far better to ban laptops, iPads and smart-phones from people that post stupid **** on the internet. Disregard, this is covered in the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. There are other Amendments as well, which one comes next???

Why? Please elaborate. I disagree because I think it is a intrinsic individual human right to own a weapon. I believe government should not usurp and monopolize that right. I also believe it is a dangerous right (like all individual rights) that causes immense pain and suffering (like all individual rights) to people periodically and that it is cold comfort to tell people that freedom is the price for the pain they are in. Nonetheless freedom is a very valuable thing that we should not let go of. Freedom is dangerous, chaotic, and scary but it is something so few humans get to have. So there is my thoughts. Also, ALL aspects of freedom are dangerous. Words can lead to violence, assembling in large crowds can bring violence, not randomly searching people's houses leads to huge amounts of criminal activity that is not stopped.

Well fully automatics weapons have been illegal for quite some time and it is rather hard to get your hands one with the proper permits.
As far as private citizens being able to own and carry semi-automatic weapons can you please give a compelling reason as to why they shouldn't be allowed?

I actually agree. You GUARANTEE that NO criminals will have guns and I'll gladly turn mine over. That includes the military, cops and security personnel you have just used to make your point. Yes, you left out the military.
