    Downward elbow

Yes I am in fact going to open this can of worms. Now having been clubbed in the past with a downward elbow I might disagree to some extent as to it's "effectiveness". I see it as a possibility type move rather than a threat ender though. But my real question here is what is the best target of that move?? The neck?? The base of the skull?? I have heard so many opinions on where to land that move that figured I would see what you guys think is the most effective use of a downward elbow.

Downward elbow to the balls is illegal because it's too effective. Duh.

What is the "best target" for any downward strike?

You might also want to consider the relative positions of the fighters involved.

I've never used one in sparring/fighting ever. I did use one while playing football. went up for the ball (I'm a goalkeeper) and the other teams striker charged me while I was in the air. Ref stopped play, but as I came down I smashed a downward elbow into his suprascapular (cos why the hell not). He walked away pretty sore and was for quite a while.

    /story.

Why is opening a can of worms considered such a bad thing? I mean, it's just worms. They're kinda gross, but that's about all they are.

Try opening a can of bees.
