Why do YOU think Aikido Sucks??

Russell has a magical glint in his eye..and now I get to picture him in Magic Pants as well my world is complete.

I took one Aikido class. The Sensei was of course a little rotund but his senior black belt dude was pretty robust ..are you only allowed to chub out at Sensei level?
The class was fun, lots of rolling about and then lots of throwing yourself while your partner followed you..or was it the other way round? The Sensei's website was a wonder of metaphysical musings and enlightened perspective complete with lots of circular diagrams.
Even though I do Taiji it was to much for me.

The chubby midle aged man description didn't do the story justice. A buffed up Freddie Mercury with the muscle tank and gentlemanly mo' seems more apt. Suits the story better.

I have always found watching Aikido technique very graceful. The circle work is elegant. The appeal of using anothers strength and momentum against them certainly can be effective. I think there is something in Aikido like every martial art that you can take away and add to your game.
