I carry the Gerber Remix for EDC. I love the finger hole & the stability it gives, plus, it just feels right for a lot of kali.
I had that knife's predecessor. Blade was nice, felt good in the hand. The problem was the lock was a POS, failed all the time. Did they ever do something about that?

This was my semi-regular carry back in South Africa (not in town obviously, but whenever I was in a more rural area or hiking out in the mountains). Also my 21st present:

They are both great knives, but benchmade needs to stop with the screws they currently use. If I get back on the Spyderco bandwagon anytime soon, I'll probably get either a Manix or one of their karambit style SALT series knives.

Fantastic knife. Love it. It will probably outlive me.

If I ever decide I need another camping knife, I will probably get one of these:

The Victorinox Alpineer is a nice knife if you want something that implies "this is a tool, not a weapon", but it has a locking blade that's a good length (4in):

Yeah, it is! I've beet the hell out of mine with no issues at all. It's a cool blade to pull out too. You don't feel like you are pulling out a little dinky knife.

    Re: EDC knife thread

I love the GI Tanto. Only drawback that you get with any non-stainless blade, is you have to keep the edge oiled or it will rust. Not terrible especially for the price. You can definitely lash this to a pole to make a long distance pig sticker.

Here is another one I carry. It's a funny little guy. Really well made for such a small knife. Click image for larger version.
