Depends what i'm doing but these three are my favorites:
For light manual work i carry this CS Voyager tanto:
It's great for anything from ripping down cardboard (it cuts right through those pesky staples) to cutting ancient barnacle-encrusted 2" nylon rope free from a propeller, miles out to sea.
The half serrated edge helps for the stuff like the staples and rope and the blade is super tough.
If i want to carry something smaller and lighter, i have the one in the middle here (big pic warning):

If i'm in the woods i carry this:
in addition to a larger blade i have that's somewhere between a bolo and a machete.
It's made from a automobile leaf spring i believe and really heavy for it's size. -

My EDC is a 12 dollar Appalachian Trail 3" folder I picked up at Lowes. I know, it's almost sacrilege to carry such a simple blade these days. But, the zinc and rubber grip has worked very well.
I have handled and manipulated this blade when my hands were dry, wet, sticky, covered in dust, grit or powder and I can open, close and use it without it slipping. I have had to sharpen it a bit more often than I'd like. But, I have carried it with me on patrol as LEO for 5 years and losing or breaking it would hurt my wallet a lot less than a more expensive blade that I wouldn't want to take out of the house. -

The second one is a sweet blade. For camping I carry my folder and one of three monstrosities.
CS GI Tanto w/ my own shitty paracord wrap.

Bear Grylls (never heard of her) Ultimate Survival knife. Not a bad knife for the price.

KA-BAR (Olean, NY) Black Tactical Tanto. This is my favourite for camping.
