I just ordered my first Strider. It's an SnG with Black Double Gunner Grips and a Tiger Striped CPM 154 blade. Cost $475, the most I've ever spent on a knife. I considered the SMF, but I carry a CQC-8 right now and sort of wish it were a little smaller so I decided to go with the more pocket friendly SnG.

I'm extremely excited to say the least, and I do plan on carrying it and not babying it.

This is my old standard...a Gerber.
They are a bit tight, but reliable and sturdy once you get your grip on. Its all I need nowadays.

I think I have one from the same manufacturer, and yeah, clip broke off mine too - replaced it with a clip off of an even cheaper knife that someone gave me.

Used to have a similar Gerber that had a 58/59Rc blade as measured myself. The Buck's not as hard and you can see by the wear on the wood, it's been in my pocket for years. Still, it's kept sharp enough to shave with.

For skinning, this is like a surgical tool and is one of the early samples of a DH Russell, being the only one of dad's knives not stolen in a burglary years ago.

Below is obviously not for carry, but included to show the awesome work done on the handle. Gift from the father-in-law who's added this to our collection of native American art.

I've been thinking of making knives again. Having lost years of hard work in above mentioned burglary, it kind of took the wind from my sails.

Let me know if you do. I have a few ideas about a camping knife I'd like to see go somewhere.
