ITEM- Major updates to the website have been added. Too many to politely list in a forum announcement so get educated first-hand at http://www.fechtschuleamerica.com!
ITEM- In addition to the wide variety of courses offered by many tried-and-true veterans, a number of new instructors have joined the Fechtschule America excitement with class topics varying from introductory to niche/specialist! A ton of not-to-be-missed action for the serious WMA / HEMA devotee!
ITEM- The best hotel deal in WMA / HEMA events has been confirmed again with additional surprises forthcoming! Book your rooms before they sell out!
ITEM- Sponsorship for Fechtschule America breaks records! We cannot thank our numerous sponsors enough for their support. ITEM- No, seriously, the sponsorship is out of control this year! See the website for the current list of prizes and sponsored items. We are still in discussions with several other sponsors so don’t be surprised if the list grows!
ITEM- “Spotlight on WMA / HEMA” has become a behind-the-scenes motto and speaks to the notion of yearly highlights to encourage and support various aspects of the WMA / HEMA communities. This year’s spotlight is “Recognizing our Patrons! A salute to the Researchers” in which we have added more lectures focusing on research aspects than ever before. (We also have a few treats in the works for our research heroes but we’re keeping those a surprise from them until it’s too late!)
ITEM- In a surprising turn of events the ladies have spoken and we are listening. By popular demand, the Hammertertz Forum Open International Women’s Tournament has been cancelled AT THE REQUEST OF THE LADIES! All competitors will participate in the various Open Tournaments equally.
ITEM- The Armoured Open Poleaxe Tournament is still undecided but should be in the next week or so. Same goes for the Cutting Tournament, but things are looking pretty positive.
ITEM- The rules for the Hammertertz Forum Open International Longsword Tournament will be posted shortly. For those wanting to get a head start on training for them they will be based on Manciolino’s rules from his 1531 Opera Nova so dust off your copy and get cracking!

Fechtschule America is less than a month away so time for the latest updates!
Tournaments-
-Sadly, due to too few participant's we are cancelling the armoured tournament this year. However, we are still working on trying to get these rare but important martial artists a little attention.
-After careful polling of the ladies attending Fechtschule America we are happy to announce that the Hammertertz Forum Women's Open Longsword Tournament is back on the schedule! A majority of votes made the desire for this tournament abundantly clear so North America's first HEMA-specific women's longsword tournament will take place at Fechtschule America!
-The rules for the Hammertertz Forum Open International Longsword Tournament and Women's Open Longsword have been posted. This year's rules are based on Antonio Manciolino's 1531 comments on salle fencing and are intended to begin the process of better understanding the historical martial practices that developed the martial artists using these arts.
We are LIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!
-Thanks to the herculean efforts of Paul Ilardi, John O'Connor, and the rest of the crew at Forte Productions, we are extremely happy to announce that this year Fechtschule America will broadcast live via the Internet the finals of the Open Longsword, Women's Longsword, Dagger, and Franco-Belgian Longsword Tournaments. This broadcast will include a number of surprise guests, commentary, and possibly a few other bonus events. To watch the live broadcast please go to http://www.justin.tv/fechtschuleamerica at 4 PM (CST) on Saturday, March 16th!
-Sponsors interested in promoting during the live broadcast are encouraged to contact info@fechtschuleamerica.com to discuss possibilities.
More announcements will be forthcoming. Registration to Fechtschule America is still open so register today and be a part of the action!
