    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Remember Shawn Obasi the Wing Chun guy?

    No?
take a look at the video of him from awhile ago.

He had a couple of amateur fights he won against some really shabby competition.

Well, He final had his first pro fight.

send this to all the wing chun people who think it is so useful in a fight.

He even had a BJJ blue or purple belt if I remember.

At least he figured out that if your dream is to be a MMA fighter you don't have to be on a reality TV show to pursue it.

Getting bad UFC 1-5 flashbacks from this. No way that gentleman is a purple or high blue.

I'm a little surprised by his performance. _ing _un or no, he was very shy about his opponent's punches. Considering he's had ammy fights, I thought he'd have shed that already.

Watch his fights. His style is pretty in-your-face and aggressive, typical for somebody with a WC base. He probably hasn't really tried being put on the defensive in the cage until now, which seems to have dissolved his supposed BJJ skills entirely.

I saw zero -ing -un in that fight. Mr. Obasi held his hands in a somewhat traditional boxing position. His footwork also did not resemble anything like most -ing -un. Based on his posture and footwork, I would postulate that he is no longer a -ing -un fighter no matter what he says.

Also, as a matter of principle, one example is not a sufficient sample size to make a case of -ing -un being ineffective.

Now you've gone and made me defend the -un. I need to go shower.

It looked like a modified Wing chun stance to me actually. One foot behind the other, hands low by the upper abdomen and one hand in front of the other. Not the traditional stance forsure though.

It said he did 4 years of BJJ, but that is enough to know how to shrimp.

Dammit, i tried to + rep jnps post because i agree that we need a larger sample size before w can state anything as definite proof. I'm doing this from my phone though and my bulbous fingers -repped the post, whoops.
