2012: the Bartitsu year in review
The Bartitsu Society's annual round-up of events and milestones.
Wandering into Waterstone's this past week (Christmas shopping - they shall read, godammit) I picked up E.W. Barton-Wright's book "The Sherlock Holmes school of Self Defence" subtitle 'The Manly Art of Bartitsu as used against Professor Moriarty".
It's slim and Hardback and cost £6.99 published by Ivy Press on www.ivypress.co.uk. ISBN 978 1 907332 73 9.
- how to eject a troublesome man from a room
- how to overcome a ruffian who attacks you with a knife
- how to repel an assailant who positions himself in front of your bicycle.
It's a nicely designed book, but it's really just some excerpts from Barton-Wright's self defense articles (the original articles contained about 2-3 times as many techniques) and the article "Self Protection with a Cycle", which wasn't written by Barton-Wright.
Ah, well - Merry Crimbo to you, too.
Ok, I'll put the self protection section down as revision by Lance Armstrong.
