A Prayer
Europe has been surrounded and garrisoned since ww2 and is locked in treaties with either Russia or the US since ww2. The iron curtain was not just a power grab, it was also a huge buffer between Europe and Russia. NATO was a Cold War creature but ... It also kept US troops in Germany. Please do not lecture us on the "peacefulness" and "friendliness" of Europe. When Yugoslavia went crazy Europe did not keep the peace.
A man that would give up his house rather than take government money should be respected even if you don't agree with him.
Finally, people sometimes talk about the US like its a young country. Since the us civil war we have had a stable government. This puts us in a small group of countries with long term stability. We are certainly the largest stable country. -

You call it "paranoia." I call it "vigilance."
Thank goodness neither country has had a tyrannical government within my lifetime. I aim to keep it that way -- at least in regards to my country. When the tyrants do show up (and if history is any indication, they will) it will be too late to say, "We'd like our guns back, pretty please." Just because it doesn't look likely today doesn't mean it couldn't happen "next week" or "next year." -

I can't remember the name of the documentary it was a BBC one on before the election about Obama's time in office. Ill look for the name of it when I less busy stuffing my face with turkey.
ok it's not free because you pay for it from a small part of the tax we pay. The interview asked the guy if he would like to adopt the UK system ( NHS) where out of you're tax (20% of wages) and national insurance of which I pay £2.50 a week as I'm self employed, you pay nothing else for you're health care apart from £6.50 for any medicine you need unless its a life long illness like diabetes etc then it's free.
the documentary then went on to show the tent towns where family's are so poor that they have to live in tents even children. -
