You see you steriotype too easy.
You are talking about the famous post army trip that lasts an average of 6 months. And usually it splits between india (goa) and south america. The more smoky kind will go to india and maybe nepal. The more track hiking seeking will go to south america (also great parties in Brazil.) People with more money will travel all over new zealand and austrelia. Also backpack threw europe. Thailand is also extremely popular but for shorter durations and for a second trip later in life.
personally, im all about the culture/people and architecture with a healthy appreciation of nature, so my ideal trip will be a coast to coast in the usa....
But visiting Denmark and holland (family) is also cool :) -
