I grant that spelling jiu-jitsu vs jujutsu, etc., is far from decisive by itself. However, if a guy writes on a US web site "I teach Ju Jitsu," do you disagree that the more usual reading of that, given the absence of "Brazilian" plus that particular old-fashioned spelling, is that he means JJJ? I think most people would agree that this is the natural reading.

Then if you add that he says that his training in "Ju Jitsu" led to a Black Belt earned under a master who was a high-ranking official in the USJJF, that confirms that JJJ is what he means. And the association between JJJ and the spelling Ju Jitsu in Mr. Rice's mind is made even more probable by the fact that he very likely encountered it spelled "Ju-Jitsu" frequently in dealing with his jujutsu teacher.

Whether anyone here is a pendant (or even a pedant) or chooses to follow or not to follow current common practices in spelling the name of any given martial art is irrelevant to these points.

I won't give them stronger on the issue about my credibility.

Yes, I fucked up. I'm pretty sure I stated this already, may bad if I haven't. I'm not gonna ask a man to explain himself and not be willing to do the same, that's why I stayed in this.

    Explain what exactly?

"Excuse me can you explain why you don't have a belt in an art you never claimed to have a belt in? Can you corroborate the claims that you never made and that I inferred from poor reading skills?"

No, I think it's fucking stupid of anyone of any bandwagon to assume he teaches Japanese, Brazilian, or Narnian style just because he spells it jujutsu, jujitsu, jiu-jitsu, or whatever.
