    Hell yeah! Hell no!

if <insert martial art> did not give you confidence, your trainer was bad

    Discuss:

if <insert martial art> did not give you confidence, your trainer was bad, look for another one
if <insert martial art> did not give you confidence, you did not practice well enough, <insert martial art> is flawless, you are flawed

    Give Pros an Cons.

    Welcome to Bullshido

Not sure I understand your question or if it’s a question; I am guessing English isn't your first language.

First off if I considered the trainer bad I would look for another unless there was no other training that is a no brainer on the second point depends what you mean by confidence, in me or in the Art/style/sport?

    How would you've phrased it?

Not true, theres plenty of examples where people have heaps of confidence from their art, for example the classic, "fight off multiple attackers with knives" stuff. However I believe that giving such illusion to people is dangerous, and a selfish way to sell whichever art the trainer may be teaching, which in my mind makes them a very bad trainer.

Whatever you replied to it wasn't the topic.

    I am confused.
I have won fights and felt confident. Had my head kicked in and lost confidence.
How does my martial art affect who I fight?

So pros it is the written word.
    Cons it dosen't make sense.

Is that too mean for newbie town?

I am sitting here trying to think how I would put that nicer.

The pros: Face-to-face, in-person one-on-one instruction. Training realistic techniques against my partner who is actually resisting to the point that I know if what I am doing will work or not.

cons: Ninjers--anyone trying to teach Ninjutsu is attempting a con. Learning martial arts from video or printed material without a foundation of some sort. People making remarkable claims about their skills, record, training or other accolades. I earned my amoeba-level, let them earn theirs.

The false-confidence is a bad thing. If it was from bad training or not practicing enough, find a better instructor and practice harder. Don't practice hard if you are training some **** that won't work; it is a waste of time.

    Again, welcome to Bullshido.

slamdunc, dude. For someone being in law-enforcement you are pretty unable to comprehend. Reread the question, my brother.
