    Hell yeah! Hell no!
i've done some good Wado in Honolulu - this doesn't sound good. We started sparring early on, just did what we could do.

    Thanks.

But to answer the question of what I want, I'd like to be able to handle myself against anyone. I thought getting a mix of a few things and using what works for me would be a good idea.

You'll never handle yourself against "anyone". If you're good you'll be able to handle yourself against some people, some of the time.

If you don't like the Wado class, don't go back, but feeling awkward on your first night is just the name of the game. Go to an MMA and you'll feel awkward, too.

    You're welcome.

You went to a traditional Japanese karate class. You asked about BJJ.

Go to a BJJ school, genius, instead of going to a traditional Japanese karate school and then bitching about how it's not BJJ.

Sounds good to me. I guess it's a matter of want versus is. Of course I want to be the best at everything. :P

    I went again today.

Nothing much to say. Since I arrived early, I thought I'd go ahead and do stretches until the others get there. Went from stretches to those funky leg kicks and before I knew it, it was more than half an hour past when we were supposed to start and I was the only one present, most likely because that sifu is away this week. Took a shower and then went home.

I'm going to visit just 1 more time to see how a class with a teacher present looks like.
