Short Film: "Fight Scene"

My good friend Meredith Danluck directed this new short film. Frank Shamrock narrates. It is pretty cool!

The Cinema Series is a new series of short films directed by Meredith Danluck that focus on the tropes and narrative expectations of cinema. The Fight scene is a seamless loop that takes us through a street fight. A collaboration between Danluck, LA Dance Project's Benjamin Millepied and Hollywood stunt choreographer Kieran Gallagher, the film focuses on the non-verbal dialogue of violence. There is no winner, no loser, no dialogue, no motivation and no reason, just pure violent movement. Danluck breaks the sparring partners away from each other exposing their dialogue as monologue, their movements as lines in a play. Narrator Frank Shamrock, a four time undefeated UFC champion, carries us through the action with his reflective musings on fighting, Hollywood and fear.

Meredith does great work. She has done some really cool shorts and documentaries.

I didn't expect such good production values, but the coreography was brilliant and the sound design was just awesome.

Good stuff, I liked the choreography a lot. However, I thought that the impact noises were a bit much at times, especially since the fighting itself looked so realistic (where it was meant to).
