Just out of curriosity, is it only affiliated or is it actually endorsed?

Because an endorsement from the HA would actually be kind of cool for a fight club.

I trained at a Muay Thai gym for years before finding out it was highly connected to a Biker gang.

I'd suggest joining a different gym if you know in advance. Gym members were pressured to do some pretty stupid things.

As I said, it would probably get treated as a breeding ground, maybe some "favours" asked of fighters that were intimidating and able to handle themselves. "Prove" yourself able to handle some **** cash collection and soon you're moving weight and standing over cunts. Nah, I just like to fight.

the kung fu world has plenty of older sifus with connections to gangs, and it's not that uncommon to hear stories of senior students being asked to tag along with no explanation on trips that would end up being collections, etc. basically being used as intimidation (back in the 80s and early 90s.)

unfortunately, those were mostly the schools that could fight, so avoiding them was not an option if you wanted teh r34l. seems to be way less common now though.
