    1898 savate film footage

Very early Lumiere Brothers film footage of savate (French kickboxing) training, probably at the Joinville military physical training school.

The skipping step reminds me of traditional Italian knife fighting footwork.

twisting your shoulders while making an uppercut? cool, could give you a bit more reach... even though it looks a bit silly :)

Reminded me of some of what I've been shown of Cossack material. Big differences, but the movement and footwork had a certain flavor if you follow.

    Peace favor your sword,

To me it reminded of aerobic kickboxing.
Though the characters there looked fucking tough. MA was so esoteric, i can only imagine the people drawn to it back than.
    Very very cool video, thanks.
