I'm guessing I'm the only one here who has read the Popol Vuh? That's the Mayan creation myth, and a few other myths, in book form.
I was obsessed with mythological creation stories as a young man in the early 90's. I read all that I could find, including the Popol Vuh.
So, long story short, it's not the end of the world. It's supposed to be a time of transformation that will lead to greater harmony and understanding of ourselves and our place in the cosmos.
Who knew the Mayans were forerunners of the hippies?
Anyway you look at it, however, it's still humanity doing our tired schtick of making the universe a more anthropomorphic place. If you do not test yourself against the unknown, how can you truly know if the tools you possess actually work? -
