I'm pretty sure history tells us that the Mayans didn't know what the hell was going on in the GMT area, or they would've sank those ships coming from the East.

In fact, the Winter Solstice occurs at exactly 11:11am GMT (UTC) on 12-21-12, which is why it occurs at 6:11am ET, and 3:11am PT.

Just under 14 hours to go here on the east coast.

Yes, people are already making comparisons of 11:11 to 9/11.

It's amazing how manyu people think that the Mayan people just up and left like The Lorax.

I spent a month in a rebel Mayan village in Chiapas in the early 2000s. Noone there believed their calender turning was gonna cause the apocalypse.
