Texas secession?

What percentage of the US armed forces are Texan and what proportion of US military hardware and installations are in Texas?

As in some theoretical secession scenario it is not unthinkable that many Texans serving in the US military would withdraw their service and re-join a hypothetical Texan military, similarly with hardware and kit.

Would the remaining states really want to enact sanctions against/ go to war with Texas to recover the planes, tanks, ships, nukes, etc... stationed in Texas?

Well a better question is what % of the military assets the own to go with their % of the debt.
As moving the stuff from Texas really wouldn't be hard. Our forces by design are very mobile.

Because while it might be relatively easy to move an individual tank or aeroplane, it would probably be difficult to re-home them all. Also moving and re-homing nuclear weapons would be fairly complicated.

These questions about state secession are more complicated than first appears, the UK is already, well down this route and it's not as simple as **** you and good riddance.

Unless your talking about ICBMs not that complicated we have facilities all over the US especially on the west cost that are more than capable of handling Naval and Air Force Nuclear weapons.
Texas only has 17 bases this is nothing to be relocated. To put this in perspective San Diego has 8 or 9 bases alone.

The right to secede was a provision of Texas joining the union back in the day. That said, no one besides nut jobs has ever seriously considered it.

Mebbe so, but I still prize my "I'm from Texas - what country are you from?" bumper sticker.

Makes no difference to me. I'm all for shaking up the status quo, as are a lot of people on both sides of the issues. Which just amounts to a fight brewing.

I've been through Texas...manhandled by the Texas Highway Patrol...I should have said it's mostly garbage instead of desert....that would have been more accurate and less prone to people pulling out the geological charts...sheeeeit.

Well, many factors contributed to the **** that happened in Yugoslavia. I don't see anything like that happening in some hypothetical case of Texas actually claiming independence. Still, its complicated stuff that can turn really nasty.
