Right.
But it doesn't require it, as evidenced from the OP video. It's entirely possible for a strong judoka to do it without the frictionless surface that ice gives using the awesome waist power judo develops.
We've all seen it done even in professional wrestling so many times. If you're the throwee you can't really win...hold on and you can get body slammed (essentially the OP video), let go and you go flying out of the ring.
It sucks to be the weightless one. I think that is the biggest insight of judo, so I guess maybe there is a judo principle at work in the video. -
