I'm 30, he's 38. I had no idea he was "a drunk", I knew he liked "a drink". Without too much extra backstory, before I moved up he managed to convince, read manipulate, me that he wasn't drinking much anymore due to educational and career reasons. I believed him and since then have forgiven countless offences against me because of his ability to convince me he was changed. As I said, more fool me and it won't happen anymore.

As a friend said recently, he's a 38 year old that looks 54 and acts 16.

I have changed the standard of people in my life, significantly. I wasn't looking for anything, other than a sounding board. Fortunately there are people on here that can offer more than "suck it up, princess, you knew this was coming", which I expected, by the way.

Look, this guy is not a bad guy, when he is not drunk he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. That was the guy I knew when I agreed to moving in with him. It's why I was hoping he would be a man of his word and do what he said he would do, get the help he needs and stop fucking his life up. I know it can be done because I fucking did it. Maybe I trust in will power of others too much because I was able to utilize mine.

See, good people do this ALL of the time, not when the circumstances fit the situation. People get drunk and act stupid. This is Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond anything I'd call "not a bad guy."
