    Where TMAs (With Animal Forms!) Meet Full Contact MMA

    Hey gang! I feel kinda stupid having to admit that I've just discovered this but here goes: I was always aware of Bokator (I've done Pradal Serey in the past and I've been to Cambodia) but I've never actually seen it in action apart from a few Human Weapon / Fight Quest segments where they get into the roots of Pradal Serey. (Kinda like when they show bits of Shaolin Kung-Fu when they're doing an episode about Sanda / Sanshou.) Last night, while looking up some Pradal Serey fights on Youtube, I stumbled upon some full contact Bokator fights and I was kinda blown away! Check it out:

    There are some VERY impressive techniques in there! In the second video, one of the fighters catches a round kick to the body and immediately goes into a flying triangle attempt and lands in an armbar!

    I think it's cool because it appears to be exactly where the two sides of Bullshido (the community) meet: traditional martial arts (with rituals and ceremonies and animal forms) and full contact mixed martial arts!

    (Now I feel like an ass because I was in Cambodia this past summer and didn't make an effort to find out about these kinds of events!)

    I love how they taunt one another with their slick dance moves throughout the fights. Anderson Silva's got nothing on these dudes!

    I'm just glad someone FINALLY make a Genki Sudo martial art. Dancing, leglocks, sass. I love it.

    Can someone make me a gif of about 12:44 - 12:48 on the first video? Just the one guy shaking his head, like "No. No No."

    Oh my god, we finally found it.
    We found t3h r34l Silat.
    The fool thinks himself immortal,
    If he hold back from battle;
    But old age will grant him no truce,
    Even if spears spare him.

    Wow! I've never seen competition that really looked like something out of a movie before. Complete with taunts and sweet TMA stuntman fight moves. Super dynamic, super entertaining. I love the local fight music too. I would totally head bang to that.

    I'm stoked you found these! Thank's for sharing!

    I think this is more t3h r34l Muay Boran. Which means shitting on silat is still okay.

    While old muay thai does have some good dance moves, silat is the one where the dancing continues during the fighting, so I'd call it silat.
