Has anyone heard of Sifu Bob Boyd?

I trained with Bob for a few years, a few years ago. He's a solid dude. The "snake" style is supposed to be a family variation of the Yang style. A few years ago there was a video floating around of Yang Sau Chung doing a variation of the long form that is pretty different from the more commonly seen version, and is also clearly what Bob is doing. It's also clearly the same form as Ip Tai Tak, who was Yang Sau Chung's disciple, IIRC. I'll poke around and see if I can find the vids (I think the ones with IP are on Bob's site).

That actually looks strikingly similar to Chang Naizhou's family style. Very interesting. Thank you again for the link.

I would venture a guess that it wouldn't be stylistically different, but more likely than not would have subtly different stance/application/grip/empahsis during technique application. Maybe conditioning drills, etc.

This is the case in what I have been taught. More drilling of small groups of techniques/ mini 'forms' if you like. We have a 'snake body' form also sometimes called a dragon body form. Also a 'turtle' form but we don't concave the chest to round the back which seems to be whats going on with the Ip stuff. Reminds me of some 'shortfist' ie: pakmei/south mantis. Though there are variations in the way those are done too..

Be interested to know what the mainland based Yang family think of this.
