Actually a blouse is considered a woman's dress shirt that is worn over other garments, buttoned up but does not have to be long sleeve. Yes, I know this makes me very gay.

Wearing a "blouse" isn't automatically "faggy". It really depends on the color and cut.

IF you found a blouse that fit you well and looked good the only off detail would be which side has the buttons and which side has the button holes. Most people won't even notice.

Now a blouse with a "peter pan collar" and lacy accents... ...that might look a tad odd...

I have no idea what you call it then, its just somewhat formal, you see police officers or bussinessmen etc wear it underneath their suitjackets etc.
You can also use a tie to go with it.

The mens shirt buttons left over right. (Same with mens jacket) This is a vestigial detail from the ol' swashbuckling days. As most people are right handed they would reach over to the left side to draw their sword. Garments buttoning right over left would potentially catch the sword pomel while drawing causing dangerous hang-ups.

So manly men wear garments that botton left over right, you know, so as not to get in the way of your ass-kickery!

Other than some fitting details (becasue TITS!) the shirts are all but identical. Some can even be worn by men without them having to fellate a dude in the bathroom first.
